MISTI VOLCANO DOWNHILL MOUNTAIN BIKING/ HALF DAY

Suitable for all abilities.

We can pick you up from you hotel at 08:00 am or 2:00 pm depending on what is best for you. We then travel for approximately 2 hours up the south side of the Volcano Misti. This side of Misti is green and lush with flowers in the rainy season. In the dry season, it has an abundance of small cactus and grasses and butterflies.
We drive up a dirt track to an altitude of 3400 meters where your guide will explain about the active volcano Misti and the local flora and fauna. Also s/he will give tips on how best to ride of the terrain and get used to the bikes.

There is a dirt track that runs back down to Arequipa and there are a mixture of routes we can take. We can just stick to the track or we can off road through the cacti and boulders. Or do a mixture of both. For more adventurous people riding off the trail is brilliant as we can pick our own paths and it is quite an adrenalin rush as the jumping possibilities are plentiful around the gullies, boulders, rocks and small canyons.
Not to mention trying to avoid the cacti!. This downhill route takes about 2 hours and we finish off riding down a smooth road into a large green valley with a stream beside us.
There are opportunities to extend this trip around and cycle in amongst the brickworks on the outskirts of the city which is an interesting detour on a single-track route or to cycle down into the city via the suburb of Jesus which is also fascinating.
We will end our adventure back at your hotels via our 4 x 4s. This trip takes a total of 4 to 5 hours.
