Trekking Colca Canyon 3 days/ 2 night

TREKKING IN THE COLCA CANYON (3 DAYS 2 NIGHTS)

Day 1:

The guide of the travel agency will pick you up early in the morning at 03:00 am and you will travel from Arequipa to Cabanaconde in a touristic bus. After two hours driving, we will have the oportunity to see the sunrise on the mountains. The highest point on our trip is in a place called Patampampa which is located at 4,950 meters above sea level.


There we will stop for some minutes to take pictures of the different volcanoes that can be seen clearly from the area and afterwards we will descend 30 kilometers in order to arrive to Chivay in order to have breakfast.Before getting into Chivay, the van will stop in a check point where a touristic ticket should be payed. The entrance fee is 35 soles per person.

After breakfast we will continue with our trip to Colca Canyon and on the way we are going to see the beautiful landscapes of Colca Valley or as it was called by Mario Vargas Llosa,the Valley of Marvels.


After an hour trip we will arrive to the Condor Cross approximately at 08:30 am and there we will have one hour to see the andean condor which is one of the biggest birds in flight around the world.


The trip continues to Cabanaconde which is 30 minutes away from the Condor Cross.
Our Trekking starts in Pampa San Miguel which is a place close to the edge of the canyon and it will last aproximatedly 4 hours.The views on the way are very impressive and the views of the Canyon here are wider totally different from those we had at the Condor Cross.


Villages like Malata, Cosñirwa, Tapay and San Juan de Chuccho can be seen clearly on the way. Sangalle "oasis" is one of the most well-know places inside the Colca Canyon which is known by them as Oasis.After the descent we will stay in San Juan de Chuccho “Colca Gardens" Camping Lunch is included in the program to and after lunch you will have the rest of the day free to explore the surrounding of the area.


At night we will have dinner together, sat around a fire and enjoying the contact with nature.

Day 2:

Good Morning Colca Canyon! Breakfast is at 07:00 in the morning and at 07:30 we will depart to Cosñirhua and Malata . The main activity is fruit cultivation and agriculture so after 4 hours we will arrive to Oasis located in Sangalle area.


We spend the night in Paraiso Lodge which is one of the best in the area and we can enjoy the accomodations of the lodge such as the swimming pool there,etc.
Lunch will be at 01:00 pm and dinner is at 06:30pm. Both are included in the program.


Day 3:

Wake up call will be early in the morning (04:00 am) and the walk back to Cabanaconde starts at 05:00 am before the sunrise in order to avoid strong dehydration. The walk is uphill and it will take us aproximatedly 4 hours to arrive to Cabanaconde and breakfast will be provided there.


The touristic bus will depart from Cabanaconde at 10:00 am and it will take us to Chivay. On the way the bus will stop in Antahuilque where the views of the preinca terraces is incredible. After that we go directly to Chivay in order to enjoy the healing properties of the hot springs in Chivay.After one hour we come back to Chivay in order to have lunch.


Afterwards we continue with our trip back to Arequipa and on the way we will stop to see the andean cameloids (lamas,alpacas,vicuñas) in the National Reserve of Salinas and Aguada Blanca. The arrival to Arequipa is aproximatedly at 07:00pm.

The program includes:

-Entrance fee to the National Reserve Colca Canyon (35 soles)
-transportation
-accomodation
-local guide
-all meals included, except lunch in Chivay the third day.

The program doesn´t include

-Entrance fee to the hot spring in Chivay (10.00soles)
-Buffet lunch in Chivay
-Tips.

Tour price:185 soles.


You need to bring

-Sun block, hat or cap and sun glasses
-Camera small backpack
-Mineral water (you can buy in all villages) snacks
-Heat torch/flashlight
-Money in soles
-Swimming Customs.
-Towels
-Insects Repellent
-Personal medications.
-Hiking stick(s).
-Note : sleeping back is not important
